Like a cat
I nap at the base of the window
Sun beams playfully dancing across
My face.
Warmth. Comfort.
It just feels right.
Safe. Peaceful.
The dust from the old couch
Spreads like glitter
As I sink into the rustic, worn out
Seat cushions.
My latest romance novel
Lays discarded on the floor,
A small, torn scrap of paper
Marks where I last left off.
I rest content
Knowing that the ending will be
Predictable, yet satisfying.
My lips curl together
In a smile
As the light continues to
Waltz across my pale skin.
I let my thoughts wander.
I could rest in this place
Forever
And let the glitter dust cover me
Till I'm old and rustic
Like the seat cushions.
